Community Service:
You Need Us and We Need You!

The Lyon County Sheriff's Search & Rescue is a all-volunteer unit. We need your help as much as you need us. Amid dwindling resources and drastically reduced budgets, we need you to put more thought into your excursions into the wild land areas and water ways in Lyon County and the surrounding areas. We need you to think twice about your own safety as well as the safety of others:

  • WATER: Always take water with you when you travel in the desert.
  • LIFE VESTS: Take a life vest for each person who may ride on your boat or water craft.
  • MAP & COMPASS: Get a current map and learn how to use a compass with it.
  • FOOD: Take some high energy portable food in case a day hike turns into an emergency camp out.
  • LOST or INJURED: Call 9-1-1 and we'll come and find you, or have a plan for someone you trust to call us if, for any reason, you cannot.

If possible, we need any donations you can afford to help us rescue those people who get lost or hurt out in the wild areas of Nevada.

Please take care to keep yourself safe and please donate what you can to help us keep you safe, too.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Search and Rescue volunteers are hosting a BINGO! Night at the Mason Valley Boys & Girls Club. The LCSSAR hopes to raise awareness about Project Life Vest: SAVE A LIFE which was created to help raise money for children's water life-saving vests for any child who needs one. The BINGO! event's purpose is to help raise the needed funds in a fun, family oriented environment along with amazing prizes, raffles, a silent auction and fun food.
